- Katherine on January 02, 2022 at 4:21 pmDear Maureen, My parents, both in their 90’s, have lived in care homes for many years. It’s a difficult transition, but one can make the best of it, as I observed in my parents and as I know you’re doing. My father was good at making newcomers feel welcome. He made an effort to learn the names of the staff. He had a wonderful sense of humour that helped him and his caregivers through those awkward situations that come in care. He was always expressing gratitude to the staff. My mother, even in dementia, is loving and kind. And she certainly knows when she’s loved by the staff and others. You have a wonderful opportunity to serve and love the people around you and, even in these late days, to receive a new posting in God’s service. Take heart, this is a powerful mission field where you can make a big difference for our Lord. 🙏🕊❤️
