Thank you Bruce for this message which reminds us no matter how we feel, whether close or far from God, the Lord is ALWAYS WITH US. An Italian lady used to say to me “I don’t come to Mass for the priest, I come for Jesus!” We were noticing that a certain amount of people were no longer attending the Church but had gone elsewhere. For several years I suffered from very severe depression. Prior to that I had developed the practice of attending daily mass and it brought me great joy. When I was suffering from depression I continued this practice, going through the motions so to speak. I felt nothing – no peace, no joy, no sense of closeness or belonging but I continued because I knew that He was there even though I had no emotional connection.
