I have a habit of asking God to find me a car park when I need one. One of my children’s friends was once asked when they were in the car with us “Who’s God?” My son replied “Oh, he’s the one who gets us car parks every time.” My children have grown up now and still ask God to find them car parks.

Hi Bruce. We had a lovely parish priest, now deceased, who often told us that the best ideas for his homilies came to him in the shower. He also used to pray “Hail Mary, full of grace, help me find a parking space”. Thank you for this inspiring talk and all the great suggestions for developing habits to encounter God more deeply in the every day.

Bruce, my Grandmother is 98 years old , for most of her life she would wake up at around 4am to pray. She would pray a Hail Mary for each member of our family, her daughters , grandchildren and great grandchildren . She also attended daily Mass. Her memory isn’t quite what it used to be now .

We live on two far away continents, yet we are all told the same things by our grandparents and our parents. Like blessing ourselves when an ambulance went by and pray for them, or make the sign of the cross when you went by any Catholic Church. My first recollection of going to Mass is with both my grandmothers. Very Holy women, didn’t drink or swear. (that isn’t the only reason) Both lost children before the age of 6.
