Hi Jerry,
Lent is the period of preparation for the Easter festival, which includes the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you look over this site you will find evrything you need to know about it.

Thank you so much for this. Hearing you preach the word of Lord is medicine for the wound that is my family’s trauma and my husband’s cancer journey. God bless you, your families and all those who are involved in making these sermons reach so many of us. 🙏🏾

Thank You for sharing your personal hurts growing up. I to have had personal hurts growing up but now I have found healing by really making that right turn and saying to Jesus…Jesus I believe in you and I am now following your steps so I can be with you when I am called home.

I was deeply moved by today’s message and can relate to being different from my siblings… as Bruce shared in his personal story. I long to truly love myself and to change. This lent journey has been unlike any other and I am so very grateful. I’ve been keeping a journal and reflecting on the daily messages and I’ve been sharing with others this beautiful and meaning journey and encouraging them to “check it out for themselves”. Thank You Bruce! May God continue to bless your ministry. 🙏🏻💙

Thank you Bruce for your message today. I needed to hear it because this past Monday my grandchild was born with Downs Syndrome. This was unexpected, because testing was negative for Downs. Expectations were shattered and a very Hard Right was required.

🙏for disappointment and healing for the family!! This child will be a great joy to you and others! I have known families who have children with Downs and they are a light to others to see everyone has great worth and value!!

Thank you for your prayers. Yes, we realize her worth, it was just a surprise that required a “herd right” as Bruce mentioned in his talk.

Thank you so much for this message. It hit me so hard, there are tears flowing. A new realization, and a new day is here. I’ve been floundering these past few days on this Lenten journey, and have been praying to get back on track. Your words made a tremendous impact. Thank you, and bless you.

What does Jesus mean when He says is it easier to say I forgive your sin or to take up your cot and you are healed?

Susan Nicholson

I think he means it is much harder to demonstrate “take up your cot and walk “ as the crippled man has to visually get up and walk so people around are convinced of Jesus’ power whereas anyone can say “ your sins are forgiven” – but who can prove it??

Thank you for sharing a little of your personal story with us today, Mr Downes. Your experiences, painful though these have been, have given you a unique insight into the heart of God. I think your struggle now allows you to interpret and explain scripture to us from a place of redeemed pain. God is using you powerfully in this ministry. Thank you!

It bothers me a bit that you said your daughter was blessed with the helpless child. My question, does this child feel blessed that she will never be able to live a “normal” life.

Hello Maryellyn Thank you for your comment. I have learnt that pain, loss, struggle and difference can be the sources of God’s blessing in our life. The Scripture says in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good, for those who love God and are called according to His plan. Our granddaughter Hannah who has challenges mentally and physically has a way of changing you that I could not have ever imagined. She by her very nature is beautiful and draws out of you a way of loving, caring, being patient and experiencing happiness that I would have never… Read more »

Thank you for replying. But no, you did not really answer my question. It is not about how we feel but how does the child feel. I, too, have a grand daughter with physical and mental challenges, not as severe as your child but still she has to work much harder than most children and still achieves less. What I wonder is how does she feel, does she feel blessed to know her whole life will be a struggle? Thank is the problem I wrestle with. I have prayed for her since she was born and have seen many minor miracles… Read more »

Thank you Pastor for your testimony. I was reminded of when I was born to my mom and taken away because she wasn’t married mind you this was 64 years ago, I always thought I wasn’t as good as others in the family I had but through many years of heartache Jesus was with me and has slowly been healing me. And He loves me.

This is all fine and uplifting until you pray for something (healing for my husband of Pancreatic Cancer) and that something does not happen. The gospels don’t (as far as I know) ever tell a story of someone asking for a good thing and Jesus ignores the request. We had hundreds praying for my husband, as I’m sure your family did for your granddaughter. You tip-toed up to this, but then moved on.
