That Jesus was immensely fair to all sides but too knowledgeable to be caught out!

Having visited Jerusalem, I see a group of men sitting outside under a tree asking Jesus questions and discussing His answers. Others over hear their discussion and join the group. This is taking place outside the temple (on what is now Temple Mount).

Please pray for perseverance in faith for me and all who suffer for their faith. And for courage.

Jesus was aware of what was behind the questions asked by various people and that His answers would be remembered and maybe held against Him. So He answered with a thinking mind and heart.

Going back on listening to God. I have been asking for prayer for over a year. The abdominal pain and nausea got worse, I was desperate. I used to run a young adult prayer group in another parish years ago. I had trouble letting the parish keep it going as I let people with mental illness into the group. Now years later I’m sick and old, one of that group was praying with me and God spoke to me.. That a certain medication would help. I had some very old ones, took one. In half an hour the symptoms had… Read more »

We have to give God priority above all other things. We must put God first at all times & love Him with our mind, heart & strength at all times & love our neighbour as ourselves.

Bruce you discussed on the weekend that our lives as we know it will all come to nothing in the end. We entered the world with nothing & we leave with nothing. So it is no good spending too much time beautifying our homes, gardens & ourselves without first giving God priority.

You shall love your neighbor as yourself. What a different world it would be if everybody did this.

He knew before hand that this would work! Receive His love, only then will we have the ability to love others! On our own we can do no good thing…may the Holy Spirit living in us spread the “unconditional “ Love so needed to make a difference in this present darkness! Donna be the light someone needs today😊, we will capture their hearts for Him one at a time!

Bruce up top of this scripture passage is Matthew 22:34-40 not Mark 12:28 What I see is Jesus surrounded by certain people who are not interested in what He says in order to know more about what God is saying to them through Jesus( God the Son) who many believe is a teacher/ prophet. Many Jewish religious authorities saw Jesus as a threat and want to trap Him in His words. Although there were scribes who were with the Pharisees and against Jesus too I see this scribe as not one of them. I notice the scribe saw that Jesus… Read more »

I love the way you broke things down and gave me insight into this one very short but powerful message. How when looking back a few versus we see why “ answered them well” means so much to this passage.
Thank you

👍”He answered them well! “. However could I have missed that!!! That captured my heart…. cause He always does! Continue to help all of us, especially those who teach to make The Word come alive!!!

I see a dispute and Jesus being challenged by the people. How should we live our lives?I see a wise Jesus responding with “Love God but you must ALSO love everyone else just as God loves you.” The humble scribe acknowledges Jesus’ response and has grown in his understanding of God’s kingdom.

Good morning Bruce,
I have a fairly new Bible that a priest gave me just a few years ago, The New American Bible, Revised Edition
it’s the newest Bible that I have, which I have about three or four. And this is completely different from what you had this morning.
wow I was surprised. I really didn’t think there would be a difference.
the only date I could find was 1986 when it probably was revised

I am pretty confused. I have two bibles open before me and neither one has the wording you are showing. The message seems to be the same, but I am spending too much time looking for the correct passage instead of hearing you. I did not realize the wording of different bibles would be so different. I guess this is a learning curve for me. I love that you are teaching this series. I have taken many bible study classes, this is the first to actually read the passage together and discuss them. Thankyou, Bruce

Are you reading Matthew or mark 12-28

Steve

The scribe had already come to understand that devotion to God is above the law. He was sensitive to what God was saying and so connected spirit to spirit with Jesus. This is an encouragement for us to connect ourselves with God in every aspect of our lives.

I have a Catholic Bible “The New American Bible.” Your verse quotes and mine do not reflect the same words. You said Matthew 12 so now I’m totally confused.
