It was a great talk this morning – very helpful to be encouraged to focus on the heart. I think too, that we also encounter our wounds and sometimes we need courage and grace to look at them and allow the Lord to come in there and bring healing to our hearts.
8 years ago when I renewed my heart and today’s message made me reflect of who I have become thank you for sharing your wisdom God bless you always I am looking forward to the next days.
I loved how Bruce pointed out that the liturgical calendar is actually our worship calendar. And that Lent is not much about remembering things we already know but diving deeper into our relationship with God.
I ask you all to prey for my brother who was diagnose with stage 4 cancer this week and begins chemo today and my daughter who is hospital with a breakdown .I pray that the Lord looks after them Amen
1. Learned that Lent is so much more than just a prelude to Easter. That the deeper meaning is to become more attuned to GOD. To weed out those imperfections which keep us from becoming closer to GOD. 2 The message confirmed, it also challenged 3 Address those areas, within, which are weak and tend to crumble when viewing crisis in the world and around about us 4 Reflecting on, how long it has taken to reach this point
One of Bruce’s suggestions, that resonated with me ,was to have a little book to write your own prayers in. Also, little blessings which I find for example. “ GOD, your will be done in me”
Anne, get Bruces book “90 Days of Renewal”, so beautiful and so led by the Holy Spirit!!! I call Bruce and His Wife and the entire team “a Priests best Friend!!!” Cause our Priests need others to bring an awareness and reinforce what the church teaches!
Dear Anne, you were enquiring about Bruces book- he has written a few- if you go to Brucedownes.org/store you will find them all listed there. Thank you for your support. Praying for you, Gods blessings Rosemary
I am continually feeling more challenged to did a bit deeper. Use to think “all or nothing” but now I have learned “baby steps” are ok. Don’t stay on the surface. This is my 70th Lent, aware of many, some not so good, striving to improve.
I agree that most of us older Catholics didn’t have much learning about catholism apart from the simple catechism they learnt as children and watching parents. I am trying to make an effort to learn from catholic radio and programs like yours, I involve my children too
Today I will try to be more in touch with my heart. I will be more understanding of others feelings. I feel so much closer to God after listing today and looking forward to tomorrow’s!
Good Morning. To dig deeper into my heart and really try to change the negative thinking and concentrate on trying to have a more deeper lent than what we already know. Thank you.:)
Even Jesus did 40 days of self examination I’m not Jesus but self examination is necessary not just at Lent but everyday! Look at myself and ask who am I? Who do I want to be? Who does God want me to be? Am I even close? What do I need to do to get there?
This one was very inlighting, I learned that some of my life long beliefs and judgements were and are taking me further away from God and Christ. Opened my eyes. I will strive this lent to be less judgemental. I will use prayer and self examination to do this.
Blessings, I learned today how beautiful and merciful is God always giving us the opportunity to come to him specially during Lent. He will take us as we are and our hearts starts transforming. I thank Jesus every day for rescuing me.
At the beginning of today’s devotional I, as a lifelong Catholic, would have said I have done many Lents, but after listening, I think I have given up soda, and treats, and done Rice Bowls, but this is my first Lent trying to truly work on a transformation and conversion to full will of God. Thank-you
I have been praying that during this lent my heart would be softened. So thank you for reaffirming me today! May we all grow closer to Jesus during this lenten season. God bless.
Conversion is a word I truly did not know the meaning of until I began to understand today. I always thought it meant change… being changed from one way to another way.. I began to see that it is actually an evolution and it does not happen all at once and it never ends if you are open to it. I have lived many Lents but I feel this is my first one. Excited for the journey.
I have been praying for God to help me be less judgmental, opinionated, outspoken, and to soften my heart. I am focusing so much on this and am so thankful for this daily Lenten devotional to help me, guide me, and support me.
Yes to keep coming back to Jesus every lent . I talk to Him more each day plus pray. To give my heart to Him first and not lose this relationship by being kind, loving, patient and understanding.
I can totally relate to the example you gave about being with your wife for so long and even though you both are older, you love her even more. My husband and I met at church youth group when we were 14 and 16 and now we’re in our mid 50’s and I feel the same about him. It gives me something to base how deep my feeling with God should be getting the more I communicate with Him. Thank you so much for that example.
So do I. Bruce, I want to get your book. Where and how do I get it.

I want to be more committed to Lent and deepen my relationship with God through prayer and good works. I want to be a better person.
I always ask God to forgive all my sins especially to my love ones, the disgusting words and thoughts that I made.I am deeply sorry for all my sins. Everyday I always ask God to forgive me. Do you think God has forgiven me? How would I know that God has forgiven me?

I like the idea that Lent is a part of our continuing conversion; that conversion is not a moment but part of our continuing growth process. Jesus walks with each of us gently teaching, gently guiding, helping our hearts grow as he slowly heals us of the effects and inclination to sin, ever deepening our relationship with God, and he gives us great help and healing through the Church and his Sacraments.
Dear Teresa, Yes we are all on a continual journey of Conversion, of falling in love more with Jesus. May you especially be blessed this Lenten season. much love Rosemary

Hi Yesterday I had the bright spark idea to write on a sticker the word GOD. I then cut it out and stuck it on the bottom left of my phone. Every time I picked up or looked at my phone I saw the word God. This prompted me to pray in those few seconds of down time during the day and reminded me God’s presence was with me. What a wonderful day I had. Something so small impacted my whole day. Hope this encourages someone else out there who has a busy day or job. God is with us… Read more »

Thank you Bruce for this special message for Lent!!! It is wonderful that you spoke about the verse in Mark 1: 15 ‘The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.’ The priest actually said those precious words ” Repent, and believe the Gospel” while he made the sign of the cross on my forehead with ashes! When I am in agreement the word ” Amen” pops out of my mouth. This is what happened last night which took the priest pleasantly by surprise! All the times I have participated in… Read more »

What I heard Bruce say today is that Lent is more about a change in our hearts than our actions. I am always challenged with “thy will be done” and want to journey toward Gods will…not my will…in this forty days of Lent.

I love your lentil programme, today I have learnt to listen. and listen to learn. To have a change in all..
1. Learned that Lent is so much more than just a prelude to Easter. That the deeper meaning is to become more attuned to GOD. To weed out those imperfections which keep us from becoming closer to GOD.
2 The message confirmed, it also challenged

This is my first year with Bruce and his team and I have learnt so much in such a short time.
One of Bruce’s suggestions, that resonated with me ,was to have a little book to write your own prayers in. Also, little blessings which I find for example.
“ GOD, your will be done in me”
Want to be a deeper transformed person in GoD
Want to be a better me in all

Familiarity is not always a strength. I can reaffirm my relationship with Jesus even after much time has passed.

You are having the same problem that I am trying to get out or.
I am working on that as well.
I love the simple way you explain things. It really helps a deeper understanding and desire to transform and feel the love of god.
So true.
trying to open my heart to the word of God and not letting others influence me but i fine that hard when some just put their prombles on you
A change of heart is definitely very important to love and be at peace with yourself to be able to love others as Christ loves us.
Yes to keep coming back to Jesus every lent . I talk to Him more each day plus pray. To give my heart to Him first and not lose this relationship by being kind, loving, patient and understanding.

Praying for a deeper commitment this Lent with God’s help and all of you here. Thank you Bruce and team. God bless you all.💞🙏🕊
