It was a great talk this morning – very helpful to be encouraged to focus on the heart. I think too, that we also encounter our wounds and sometimes we need courage and grace to look at them and allow the Lord to come in there and bring healing to our hearts.

1. Learned that Lent is so much more than just a prelude to Easter. That the deeper meaning is to become more attuned to GOD. To weed out those imperfections which keep us from becoming closer to GOD.
2 The message confirmed, it also challenged
3 Address those areas, within, which are weak and tend to crumble when viewing crisis in the world and around about us
4 Reflecting on, how long it has taken to reach this point

Even Jesus did 40 days of self examination
I’m not Jesus but self examination is necessary not just at Lent but everyday! Look at myself and ask who am I? Who do I want to be? Who does God want me to be? Am I even close? What do I need to do to get there?

This one was very inlighting, I learned that some of my life long beliefs and judgements were and are taking me further away from God and Christ. Opened my eyes. I will strive this lent to be less judgemental. I will use prayer and self examination to do this.

Conversion is a word I truly did not know the meaning of until I began to understand today. I always thought it meant change… being changed from one way to another way.. I began to see that it is actually an evolution and it does not happen all at once and it never ends if you are open to it. I have lived many Lents but I feel this is my first one. Excited for the journey.

I can totally relate to the example you gave about being with your wife for so long and even though you both are older, you love her even more. My husband and I met at church youth group when we were 14 and 16 and now we’re in our mid 50’s and I feel the same about him. It gives me something to base how deep my feeling with God should be getting the more I communicate with Him. Thank you so much for that example.

I like the idea that Lent is a part of our continuing conversion; that conversion is not a moment but part of our continuing growth process. Jesus walks with each of us gently teaching, gently guiding, helping our hearts grow as he slowly heals us of the effects and inclination to sin, ever deepening our relationship with God, and he gives us great help and healing through the Church and his Sacraments.

What a wonderful day I had. Something so small impacted my whole day. Hope this encourages someone else out there who has a busy day or job. God is with us… Read more »

  1. Lent is about repenting & trying to be a better person.
  2. Trying to go deeper & deeper in our relationship with God.
  3. Look at fixing what I think are the imperfections in my life & trying to be the person God wants me to be.

May God Bless you, Rosemary & the team abundantly, it looks like this is going to be a fantastic journey.🙏

Thank you Bruce for this special message for Lent!!! It is wonderful that you spoke about the verse in Mark 1: 15 ‘The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.’ The priest actually said those precious words ” Repent, and believe the Gospel” while he made the sign of the cross on my forehead with ashes!
