Thank you Bruce. The Our Father is the prayer I start my day with, reflecting on each line as I go. Such a beautiful prayer and so full of meaning. It was the first prayer I was taught. I went to a convent school which had mostly non Christian children but all of us were taught and prayed the Our Father at the start and end of each day, with a lot of reverence, yes, even the non Christians. However, it is only in the past few years that I have taken to really contemplating on each line of this… Read more »

Nothing like a father or grandfather to show the way we should go!👍🙏. We could certainly use more of that!

A Priest told us that in the Our Father, “give us our daily bread” means to receive the Holy Eucharist. The bread of life on a daily basis. We must go to church. Speak to our Priest to say mass for those who want to receive before they go to work. Jesus in me and I in Christ.

I think that lines is about asking God to provide for us daily. Our daily provisions much like he did with daily manna.

Cecilia, I too went to Catholic school and Mass everyday. I remember Dear Fr. Wagner, at St. Clements and the sisters, say the very same thing, many years ago! I believe now it was to plant the the seed of just how important it is to receive Jesus!
Which it is! But like Debbie and Bruce, I believe it can be taken a few ways. That was in the ‘60’s I did hear as yo did, Cecilia. God Bless you, Debbie, and dear Bruce, Rosemary, their family and staff❣️🙏🏼

The basics! This prayer is what I grew up with. It encompasses everything, doesn’t it? I was reminded today what I often overlook when saying this prayer: that it is to Our Father God, who ultimately supplies all our needs. Thank you for the reminders! There is comfort in saying this prayer because our own words don’t always seem to say what is in our heart.

God bless you Bruce for teaching us how to pray the way Our Lord taught us and making it simple to follow Him daily. Thank you and have a blessed day.

A formula I once learned for prayer(sadly I do not use it often enough) is:
A-ADORATION
C-CONTRITION
T-THANKSGIVING
S-SUPPLICATION

Thank you for your comments.

Debbie,
I too remember this from 4th grade, in Religion class, with Sr. Mary Aquila, at St. Clements. Thanks for reminding me❣️🙏🏼

Great teaching! What a privilege to call God Father!!! Thank you Jesus!!!! I hope everyone orders your book on prayer, I used it in teaching a small group and they loved it! “Father, thank you for always being there, waiting for us to reconnect with you anytime we are in need! “. Thank you Bruce for this enlightening time of Lent and hope that this brings all of us closer to Him and each other!

Bruce, you have given me a new perspective towards my prayer time in your teaching of the “Our Father” which I consider the most blessed of all prayers. In the future, I plan to speak this great prayer slowly, giving deep thought in each phrase, as you have taught, focusing on the true and heartfelt meaning of this powerful prayer. Thank you! Gods Blessings.

I understand how beautiful the Our Father is and recognise it as a blue-print for prayer. There is a place for praying privately. But the Bible does tell us to join in prayer with our family &/or community.
