What came to me just now after listening to today’s message when Bruce was talking about Faith and how it is more than going through the motions was this. The difference between having a grandparent whom one visits occasionally, and having a grandparent who lives in your household, with who you spend time and know personally, their past, present and hopes for the future.
God Bless, Suzanne

That is such a great analogy… God…Jesus has to live with us,within us, every minute of every day.

Thanks Margaret, my reference to grandparents possibly came because Bruce has recently mentioned his grandmother who did live with his family and how that influenced him. I had a very Godly grandmother, who though spending many years bed bound because of her illness, was always loving and welcoming to visitors, never complaining of her pain, or the fact that she could no longer walk but encouraged all with whom she spoke. She also wrote long letters to those far away as well as telephoning others. That was many years ago, it was a teenager when she happily went to be… Read more »

Faith is like love, a word we use all the time but do we really think about what it means? I know this is the area I need to concentrate on now. It is not just a word but a way of life to be built up, to increase, to come closer and closer to God.

Emma. I will help to pray you through this journey. You have already taken the first step by making the decision to change and by knowing where to come for help.

Like you, I no longer have any self-discipline but because of my deep love and respect for God I will not break what I feel is a covenant with God and I pray the same will be true for you.

There is a work book called The Lord’s Table that helped me lose 84 lbs. You get to fill the void with God and scripture.

You can do it. I know how hard it can be. I have been trying to lose weight since I was a child. I am now 71 years young. I do make it to the gym at least twice a week but try for 3 days. I am being doubly cautious right now – Cutting out a lot of then-healthy stuff during lent and I I will hopefully be down a few pounds by the end of this lenten period. It will be hard as I am going to be on Holidays for 2 weeks in Cuba. God Bless and… Read more »

I can so relate to you, your frustration and desire to develop self control and discipline. I have struggled with weight issues most of my life. It has been the Bain of my existence. I believe that my thoughts about my weight and the rejection I experienced have contributed and are a root cause to my some of my sinful ways. I am going into this Lenten journey with trying to really change some habits that have contributed to my weight. I am also going into the journey with a joy and hopefulness that I may begin to love myself… Read more »

Such a powerful talk to begin this Lenten journey. I was so overcome with emotions when the words “Help my unbelief” and “He came as light so that he who believes will never be in darkness” Powerful words and the Holy Spirit was present

I learnt through my journey so far in life that I don’t believe in God but believe God. When I believed in God it was easy to be distracted with routine and qualify that I am too busy today to pray but when I changed to believing God my prayer life was real for me because everything I think and do is prayer I constantly I am thinking about God and how he speaks to me so praying is constant I can have converstion with him all day ..

Yes… 🤩share this with others who don’t have that insight! “ Holy Spirit continue to empower each of us to bring others to an awareness of Who you are.. our constant companion to bring about changes we need to make to fulfill our purpose while here on earth….and have a life truly worth living and that will glorify You! We truly want to be lacking nothing!”

Reflecting on the distinction between belief and faith and wow – that’s a whole journey to go on during the day today!! Initial thoughts: When I say “I believe, help my unbelief” or “nothing is impossible for God” does the ability to even consider making those statements stem from an underlying base of faith? When we ask “Lord, help, please heal my child” or similar, if apparent healing doesn’t happen and we accept that position (maybe thinking because we don’t need to know God’s plan for us, God has something else in store for us etc) does this highlight the… Read more »

This lesson helped me to understand that while we have been given a ‘measure of faith’, (Romans 12:3) we can indeed strengthen & increase our faith so that we are truly able to ‘walk by faith’ (2 Corinthians 5:7). Thank you!

The point that stuck me was that we have to direct our faith through ourselves (like a gust of wind that blows through to the spirit inside us) and like an arrow shot the faith to the Lord.

Debbie

I always think that asking God to increase our faith is very powerful. In my opinion, God won’t pour more faith in you, but will put you in situations where your faith in God will be challenged.

This theme has been my prayer since you first brought it to me some time ago. It has helped me thru this journey. Going deeper to understand exactly what I am asking God when I Pray “Help my unbelief” has meant many things to me and this morning It means that the issues I deal with today calls me to have this faith. Today I know the outcome I have faith, I believe You have this for me.. Help my unbelief. Amen.

Today I heard the story of a Father who loved his son with all his heart and that he was looking for healing for his son.The message that I received was that I needed to have more Faith. My spirit is willing but my faith is weak. I need to ask God to help increase my faith and be persistent in my desire. The father believes that Jesus can heal his son but he also asks Jesus to take away his unbelief. I need to ask Jesus to help me in my unbelief. In my daily prayers I will pray… Read more »

Bruce, thank you for your programming. My faith is weak and listening to you brings faith into prospective. I started watching you last Lent and it has helped me in my faith. God has been good to me in my life. It wasn’t without difficulty but I always came back to my faith because it was the only way I could cope. God bless your Ministry.

My oldest son of this marriage was born without the main pump chamber of his heart. Statistically he should have died. I was allowed by the local priest to do an emergency baptism myself. I prayed, baptised him, and God answered. Through 3 heart surgeries (none he should have made it through) in less than two years. Last year, he had a saddle block in his lungs (a blood clot that covers the 2 main inlets to his lungs). Again I got a prayer network going. Not only did he survive (the clot went away without medication or explanation) he… Read more »

I heard a message of light in Bruce’s talk today. I have often been regarded (by others) as someone with a great faith in God but despite this, due to chronic anxiety I have been living in a dark and fearful place for the past 12 months. My prayer is that as we journey together through this season of Lent I will come to know, see and truly believe that Jesus is the Light that dispels all darkness Another point I “heard” was Repentance means to go in a different direction I really like that perspective Thank you Bruce &… Read more »
