My wonderful priest friend told me this, a long time ago. Instead of not giving up anything, because you find it too difficult, give up something different each week. Also instead of giving up, just give. A meal daily to a beggar, etc.

I told my 2nd grade children instead of giving up something ….do something everyday on purpose to show your love for Him…take out the trash.. help with dinner, visit an neighbor , etc. and we called it “40 Days of Praise”. They are so excited to be a part of something as they are preparing for the sacrament of Holy Communion!

I used to teach young children. For Lent I would suggest them doing something new for Lent. Help mom or dad around house without being told. Make your bed, help set table, help do dishes, etc. I said making a new habit was also good for Lent. They would be so excited to tell me what they did the next week. I true do random acts of kindness during Lent

Tu Lord Jesus for Healing of my twin brother Warren in all his major health issues and I praise and thank you in the healthy healing and protection of my grandson James and his mother Terri in their brutal narcissistic abuse from husband and father. I thank you for healing of myself and my sons family that love and repentance and seeking you in healing and renewal of our damaged heart to love and… Read more »

Thank you for this pathway that I see opening up before me . Thank you to my fellow travellers , it will s good to know I don’t walk this way alone .
This Lent I give up on indulging in feelings of being aggrieved by others
apparent Lack of thought for me . I acknowledge that in this I am being judgmental as I don’t know what they may be going through that might make them appear to be thoughtless .
Let me acknowledge my pain and express it only in loving kindness and compassion to others

Thank you.
I like the idea that what we choose to ” give up” can act as a prompt to remind us to check ourselves to see are we working towards what He want of us. Lovely.

I was looking forward to your Lenten teachings. I sent your link to a friend so she could follow you. I have signed up three times but haven’t received any of your teachings, only requests to sign up.
I have followed you in the past so I found you. Please help me receive your Lenten teachings.
