- Edwin Albert Pope on March 20, 2021 at 2:19 amDear Robyn, I have not heard from my family for 12 years so I can understand what your friend is going through. It is very hard and the barrier of whatever happened to create the situation is sometimes difficult to get over; pride, stubbornness are just two of the emotions the reasons. Jesus often talked about humility - the willingness to set aside our own pain in order to open a door to reconciliation even if we believed we were 'right'. Add to this the love we can have, a powerful reason to believe reconciliation can work. Even if contact is lost there is still hope her daughter will contact your friend and that is the moment one forgets all the pain and anger - just come together and hug and even cry. It may take a long time but the stronger the hugs and love when it happens. This is my prayer, "Father, you know all things, there is nothing hidden from you so I pray that whatever has happened, protect the mother, daughter and granddaughter until that day they are re-united. I pray for love, compassion and wisdom be strong in each of them as it is in you when we where so far from you. I pray that reunion be soon but if not Father, then let conscience soften hearts and minds to bring them together in due time, like fruit from a tree only picked when it is ripe and ready to fall. I pray also the counselling be received and an end to alcoholism." Amen. To give you hope in regard to alcoholism I once smoked cigarettes, a packet a day, and try us I did over the years to give it up I could not win. I became a Christian and soon after I prayed to God to help me. It was just before I entered a pool for baptismal immersion and when I came out of the water I was cured. I never smoked again, no withdrawal, it was if I had never smoke - for thirty-two years I had smoked now gone in a flash. Our God is still a God of miracles isn't he? Pray and trust in him even to keep praying until he says yes. I say this that your prayers be strong, determined and persistent. May God bless you, my thoughts, prayers and belief that what we have prayer for will come to pass.
