Our choices are not always as clear as Martha’s and Mary’s. If we have a sick person that takes up all our time – isn’t that a priority? Especially, if like Brother Lawrence, we practice God’s presence even while caring for them? And caring for someone definitely carries with it many distractions of looking to their needs. I am pulled with this one, Bruce, towards seeing laying down our lives for another who is sick and we care for as equally important. I also took care of someone, my Mum, while she was dying and I took time to talk to God. Maybe the talk was begging him to give me strength to go on, but it was a conversation with God and I know He was listing or I couldn’t have gotten through to the end. Loving on God. Elizabeth M.
