My thoughts on this verse that Jesus doesn’t care what your job is, how popular you are with others etc – he sees the inner person, not the outer persona. Observationally, I wonder at the absolute magnetism of Jesus – presumably, Matthew’s role was steady employment and yet, at Jesus’ bidding, he took that step into what must have been completely uncertain. Surely, only absolute faith in Jesus led him to embark on that journey. I pray for an increase in my faith to become so absolute.
