Thank you Bruce, started watching your daily devotions for the first time last Lent, I am a christian though not a catholic and had no idea what Lent was all about. last lent I gave up facebook, as it wasted so much of my time, time I didnt have to waste! I found in doing this, when I found myself drawn to facebook I was reminded on why I decided to give it up during lent and instead my mind turned towards God in that moment, I found it to be a great thing for me, I am only on… Read more »

Thank you one again, Bruce. A year ago, I found your ministries on a facebook page. It has been such a rewarding journey. Lent last year was a watershed moment for me. There were things I needed to let go of, things which were dominating my life. So a year ago, I weeded my garden and tossed out those things which were pushing My Lord and GOD away from being the centre of my life. For this I will be eternally grateful to you.

Bruce your reflection today really touched me more than I can say, so much I can give up to have a closer relationship with Our Dear Lord. Thank you so much.

A 40 year friendship disintegrated at the beginning of Lent three years ago when I reached out to clear the air over a misunderstanding. My apology was rejected outright saying it would have been better if it hadn’t come at Lent and that I should have rather said ‘I have missed you’.

Praying for you Bev and your friend. May God come and recover this friendship for that is one of the reasons why He came- to reconcile us to the Father and us to one another. We will continue to pray for this. Gods blessings Rosemary_BDCM Team

A simple, but profound explanation of the raging battle between the flesh and the Spirit. So looking forward to doing Lent again with you Bruce. In the words of Pope Francis …. FAST from hurting words and say kind words. FAST from sadness and be filled with gratitude. FAST from anger and be filled with patience. FAST from pessimism and be filled with hope. FAST from worries and have trust in God. FAST from complaints; contemplate simplicity. FAST from pressures and be prayerful. FAST from bitterness; fill your hearts with joy. FAST from selfishness and be compassionate. FAST from grudges… Read more »

Thank you Bruce, Your devotions are so helpful every day, and I am so very lonely, my husband and close friends have all died, and I have no one close to me now. My children are lovely but are very busy with their own lives. I just know that Jesus is always with me. Thank you.

Thank you Bruce for this helpful message and explaining more deeply why we give up things for Lent. I believed that it was a way to place the Lord first in our lives. That we would want the Lord more than anything we hold precious. So that every time we deny ourselves of a particular desire, we are reminded of the desire of wanting God more and more in our lives. But the four points you brought up to give up and to do Bruce are important to do too! So I will be praying and reflecting upon what i… Read more »

As a child I would give things up for Lent. Now, though I may do something like that, I find that doing something, like practicing patience, or donating food to a food bank, gives me something positive to do.
Thank you Bruce and Rosemary! I discovered your ministry two years ago, and have benefited greatly from it.
God Bless you both and your family!

Please pray for my children and grandchildren who were all brought up with Catholic values but in adulthood have all lapsed. Have tried talking with them without preaching but nothing moves them. They do pray but don’t follow the church’s teachings
Thank you 🙏🏻 you all

I enjoyed your explanation of Lent. I think instead of giving something up it would be better to give something back. I will give this more thought. Ty

Thank you Bruce for explaining why we should sacrifice something during Lent.At 85 I have discarded a lot of things, but have decided to forgo an hour’s TV each day and spend it reading my backlog of “The Far East” and “The Majellan”. Tony
